Our Program

The Adopt A Senior program provides a wonderful opportunity for our next generation of leaders to build relationships with senior citizens in their communities. It is an amazing program that provides tangible benefits to both the seniors and the student volunteers who participate in the program. Students who have a heart for serving their communities are often eager to participate and build relationships with senior citizens who so often can feel lost, forgotten or simply lonely. And, an amazing thing happens in the process of creating those relationships. The students who participate as a way of "giving back" often find themselves the recipients of an equal amount of love, while they too experience a tremendous amount of intergenerational learning.

Programs can be customized to meet the needs of the Senior Living Centers and the participating senior citizens.

Current program examples include:

- Students teaching seniors about email, video chat and various social media applications

- Students hosting activities at the senior living centers

- Ongoing sharing of stories and life experiences from different generations

- Periodic in person visits

- Establishing a "Digital Pen Pal" experience for seniors allowing them to exchange emails and send text messages to the volunteers

- Establishing a video chat routine to build ongoing connections
